Rob's latest Licks! video features the outro solo for an Ivory Knight song called "Fight!", which appeared on the Unity album. It's an interesting mix of scales and arpeggios that was originally written in midi.

Someone recently asked me what the most difficult part to record was. That's easy! It's the outro solo for Fight, which appeared on Ivory Knight's Unity album. I wrote it in midi, as I sometimes do to break free from my usual scale patterns. Although I couldn't of been happier with the resulting melody, when it came time to learn in on guitar, I realized what a challenge it would be! At 150 Bpm, the combination of arpeggios and scale notes conspired to make it a hellish passage to get down. I'm relearning it right now and am only at 85% speed! 😅

I'd love for some of you shredders out there to give it a shot and let me know if it's as hard to play as I think it is. 😀

Here's a tasty lick from Gravelle-Perinbam's cover of the Cheap Trick 1979 classic Dream Police. This descending half diminished arpeggio appears once in the Regular Edition and twice in the Extended Edition. Although it's all triplets, the notes are grouped in fours!
